Section 4 พระราชบัญญัติกฎอัยการศึก พระพุทธศักราช 2457

เมื่อมีสงครามหรือจลาจลขึ้น ณ แห่งใด ให้ผู้บังคับบัญชาทหาร ณ ที่นั้น ซึ่งมีกำลังอยู่ใต้บังคับไม่น้อยกว่าหนึ่งกองพัน หรือเป็นผู้บังคับบัญชาในป้อมหรือที่มั่นอย่างใด ๆ ของทหารมีอำนาจประกาศใช้กฎอัยการศึก เฉพาะในเขตอำนาจหน้าที่ของกองทหารนั้นได้ แต่จะต้องรีบรายงานให้รัฐบาลทราบโดยเร็วที่สุด
